First its important to realize that people have lately been going and writing down gift card numbers, and scamming others. However if you find an honest seller and plan on using your gift card then they can end up saving you alot of money. Some cards never expire while others charge inactivity fees after the first year or year and a half. Now when buying a card off of eBay, the sellers feedback and other credentials should be considered. After thats been checked out, let the bidding begin.
Look at the following real life auctions.
$120 Borders gift card- sold for $91.00. Buyer recieved $29 free dollars
$100 Macys gift cards- $78. Buyer recieved $22 free dollars
$411.30 Apple gift card- $370. Buyer recieved $41.30
$346 Burlington Coat Factory- BIN $265, Buyer recived $81
As you can see, theirs money to be made by buying these cards. The twist is that even more money can be made if you combine smart practices. Suppose you have a $100 gift card that cost you $60. Then while at that store, you see their having a 80% off sale on some nice, clothing items/electronic. You can go ahead and buy $100 worth of stuff at 80% and it only cost you $60. Then you can take the stuff you brought and sell them on eBay, and get cold hard cash back into your pocket. Turn $60 to $400. Trust me this works, Ive seen it done many times, when the right combination is put together.
Bottom line, if you need to make a big purchase or plan on shopping in the near future, check out eBay gift cards before you go.
