FRUSTRATED? When an eBay Seller Does Not Respond to your message? ... Read on.

You see an item that you want, but, FIRST you want your questions answered before you buy.

THAT'S UNDERSTANDABLE. CONSIDER THIS ...

Speaking on behalf of many eBay sellers, I want your business, and am doing my part, by responding quickly and thoroughly. Though, sometimes, due to a combination of technical problems my responses do not always get to you, the potential buyer. This is frustrating to me, too :-(

LET'S REVIEW THE METHOD FOR SENDING A MESSAGE TO AN EBAY SELLER

eBay includes a link labelled "ASK SELLER A QUESTION" in the top right hand corner of each listing(ad). Once you select that, you are routed to a form that allows you to enter your question. Below that is a checkbox that provides two options:

IF CHECKING - HIDEs YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS

It reads "Hide my e-mail address from (Happy_Home_Maker / SellersName)" or something like that. NOTE: If you check this box, the seller receives your message, but is only able to send answer to your eBay
 e- mail box. Did you know you have an ebay e-mail box? Yes, you get this free without even signing up for it. Do you check it often? If not, you may never receive my response. Your ebay e-mail box can be seen on line from your MY EBAY PAGE, just click on MY MESSAGES to display it.

IF YOU LEAVE UNCHECKED - IT DOES NOT HIDE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS FROM THE SELLER

Of course, if you opt not to hide your message, then your seller can reply to your personal e-mail box. The reply will be delivered to the email box that is listed on ebay as your registered e-mail address. You can confirm which e-mail address is listed by going to MY EBAY PAGE, click on PERSONAL INFORMATION. It's a good idea to check this periodically. Otherwise, your messages may be sent to an old, discontinued e-mail address or one you very seldom use.

POST REPLY TO LISTING

The seller also has the option of posting the answer to your question direct on the listing. This is not normally my favorite way of responding as it seems so impersonal. But, sometimes the information requested is information that other buyers would be interested in knowing, so I'll reply with a posting on listing.  FYI, if I don't respond that way initially, I can't go back and have the answer added to the listing.  Other times, I will send a duplicate message. One going to your regular e-mail address, and the other going to your eBay e-mail address.

WHAT OTHER COMPLICATIONS MAY PREVENT MY MESSAGES OR ANOTHER SELLER'S MESSAGES FROM GETTING TO YOU?

Check your spam filter, it may be blocking messages from the seller.

Is your mail box full, and denying new messages from being received?

ARE THERE OTHER WAYS TO CONTACT SELLER?

If no transaction (SALE -or- PURCHASE)  has occurred yet, ebay will not provide other contact info (SUCHAS MAILING ADDRESS OR PHONE NUMBER)  for the buyer. Sometimes, you can find other personal information on the sellers ME page, My World page or Ebay Store. Note: As an eBay seller we are also restricted on the contact information we can provide on line. Be persistent, the seller may not have received your message initially or may not realize that you did not receive their response.
