ReDecorating with Wallpaper Border
Who says you can't decorate? With the right wallpaper border of your choosing it can be as easy as cut and paste. Wallpaper borders do not have to be just for walls so get the most out of your wallpaper border and decorate just about anything you want to.
Supplies used for decorating the pictured examples:
- wallpaper border
- universal wallpaper border paste (glue)
- q-tips
- stencil (reuseable precut design used for painting leaves)
- stencil adhesive spray
- scissors
- 1" paint brush
- paint
- tape
Decorate Accessories
In the first picture above you will see a candle and a ceramic jar that have been decorated by simply cutting flowers with scissors out of wallpaper border and then applying the glue with a q-tip or paintbrush to the back of the flowers and attaching the flowers to the items. Just wipe away any excess glue with a damp cloth and let dry. Works well on wood, plastic, ceramic, glass etc. so you can decorate just about anything you like so your accessories will match your border. You can also cover screws on light switch or plug-in covers, however you may want to simply use doublesided tape to apply the design so that you can easily remove the design if you need to remove the cover in the future. Just in case you would like to know the gold strip on the top of the candle was a sticker found on a box of Valentine's candy.
Add Extra Touches To Walls
In the pictures above you will see the actual wallpaper border used for decorating in these examples. Wallpaper border has already been applied to the wall with extra touches added to the wall by cutting a flower design out of the border and pasteing to the wall. The leafs on each side of the flower design were painted on the wall using a precut reuesable stencil. Simply take the plastic stencil and spray one side with stencil adhesive spray, this will hold the stencil in place on the wall. Paint over the precut design using a sponge or paintbrush. Remove the stencil and you have your leaf and ready to go on to the next one as the stencil is reusable and in most cases reversable. Spray the stencil each time you use it to prevent paint leakage on the next wall design you need to paint. Ebay has many stencils and wallpaper borders for you to choose from and get started decorating.
Overlap Cut Designs For A Totally Unique Effect
In the above picture you will see a new plastic cushioned toilet seat that had an embroidered fish on it. The fish has disappeared because it has been covered with wallpaper border cut-outs. This piece has 9 different designs that were cut out of the border and then carefully positioned and taped to hold them in place during the glueing process. The flower petals on this design was easy to do because the petals interlocked perfectly making overlapping very easy. Each piece had to be glued on the bottom and attached. When overlapping was done the pieces needed to be glued together to attach to each other. There is no need to worry about glue because this glue dries clear so it is not seen. It is best to cover all edging with the glue paste so everything will stick together and stay in place. Let dry for a few hours.
