I am a proffessed Rock and Republic junkie. I like the way they look on me, I like the way they look on the girls I date, the list goes on and on. I own 5 pair, and sometimes sell them off on E-bay when I get tired of them... This is how this EXTREMELY simple guide will be born....
I listed a pair or Taylors a few weeks ago and whoever bought them, got a good deal.(I think they sold for 100$ used and a little worn).....What made me nuts, is how many questions I got about these jeans???? Questions about ; rivets, cuts, color, length, where I got them(bloomingdales) etc..It was crazy and at the same time annoying...I don't buy jeans on E-bay. I live downtown Chicago and have 20 places within a mile to find designer clothes. But, I was curious and started looking at the R&R listings for men on E-bay.
I could tell that 99.9% percent were fake, garbage from China just looking at the heading and gallery pic..(this is so simple to see if your wear the real thing daily).....
Here's the quick, list:
1. The biggest giveaway is the inseam.. I'm 6'2" and EVERY pair I ever purchased in Chicago HAD to be hemmed. Why? ALL AUTHENTIC ROCK AND REPUBLIC JEANS HAVE AT LEAST A 35' INSEAM....There is NO DEVIATION from this... I also got this info substantiated by a boutique owner who meets with his R&R sales reps to view new samples for his store..THERE ARE NO LENGTHS...so I looked around on E-bay and these fools had different lengths listed for the same cut(floyd or whatever)...This is FAKE GARBAGE>>>THERE ARE NOT MULTIPLE LENGTHS!!!!!!!!!!
2. Rock & Republic has limited quanities on most of their jeans. My store owner friend was trying to track me down a pair of the shiny skull jeans in 32' and called the company when I was standing there...They sold out of this model and THAT WAS IT!.. He could not get another pair in the states!! It's very difficult to get HUGE quanties of any of their cuts. So, if you see a LARGE quanity of the same cut, it's either irregular and extremely low quality, or fake.
3. I sold 2 pair of my old R&R's in the past year and this appears to be your ONLY chance on E-bay to come up with something legit. A private seller. Someone tired of their jeans or got a gift that didn't fit. Try to see in the pics if the shot is taken in someone's house or aparment and looks VERY unprofessional (many fakes feature shots stolen from a legit R&R site).....That's your only chance, or ,,,you can just throw down 200$ to get something from a store that you KNOW is real.....GOOD LUCK!
