In a survery done by PC World Magazine, desktop owners were asked to rate their PCs, as well as the companies that made them, according to service and reliability. In a surprising discovery, eMachines were listed as some of the most reliable desktop PC's out today, beating out HP and Compaq (who were regarded as separate brands for the survey). As far as service, eMachines was considered as providing better service better than Dell, Gateway, and Sony.
Emachines took the number one spot onseveral reliability and service measures. About two percent of Emachines users reported having problems when they first turned on their PCs, while the survey average was almost 5 percent. On the service side, 77 percent of EMachines customers reported their service issues being resolved within five days, compared to 58 percent from last year’s survey.
There are a number of initiatives that eMachines have taken to improve their standing. For one, they’ve introduced a new chassis design that enables users to replace parts themselves more easily. They’ve also increased its Web-based support by adding new content to answer customers' questions increasing, as well as introducing interactive chat capabilities with technical support reps.
