EMAIL ADDRESSES IN YOUR LISTINGS: DON'T DO IT
When writing your listing for eBay whether it is for auction or any other format do not include your email address within the body of the description of the item.
When you include your email address in the description it allows scammer's/phisher's to gather your email address with Harvesting Software that scans web pages on the Internet (eBay websites are NOT immune) and later uses and/or sells the email address to send spam emails.
Remove your email addresses from your listings it you had included them in your item description. If a buyer wishes to contact you about an item they can use the My eBay Messages/Contact Member button on your profile or ask seller a question within the item area.
If you just must list your email address, please encrypt it so that it can not be harvested by these software programs. You will get less spam/phishing/spoof emails.
If you have your email address in a listing that has already ended the email address will remain visible to the harvesting software in your Feedback, until the item is no longer visible by clicking the item number.
Furthermore, always double check your eBay My Messages to see if any messages are there that pertain to eBay: second chance, request for information on any of your accounts, unpaid item, you have won where's the payment. Report all messages to eBay's security department that appear in your regular email inbox and not your MY MESSAGES. They are most likely spoof mail that are trying to scam you and steal your information.
Never click on any of the links within the "spoof" emails that come into your regular inbox only access your account from within eBay.
Install eBay's Toolbar too and use the Account Guard when you log in to eBay or any other site that claims to be eBay. It will detect phony eBay sites and guards your account.
