When considering the purchase of 16mm 2000 foot plastic movie reels for your projector or film editing equipment, EIKI manufactures one of the best looking, durable, and dependable 16mm Automatic Plastic Reels on the market.

This guide will help make your purchase a sucess years after you have paid for the reel, accepted delivery, and begun using the reel either on your 16mm projector or on your 16mm film editing equipment.

  1. Find the Eiki Automatic 2000ft Plastic Reel searching eBay using keywords like "16mm Eiki reel", or "Projector Reel".
  2. Once you have found an Eiki Automatic and made your purchase, follow these simple rules and your reel will last for many years to come.

When we sell an Eiki Automatic 2000ft Plastic Reel I always send an email to the customer to give them the benefit of my experience to help make their purchase a success.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your EIKI AUTOMATIC 2000ft REEL purchase!

The first time I ever used an Eiki Automatic I learned a lesson I want to share with you.

I had just threaded the film through a 16mm projector onto the Eiki Automatic 2000ft plastic reel and started the movie projector. I then ran to the bathroom and quickly returned.

Upon my return there was film everywhere except wound around the reel where it should have been. Why?

Eiki Automatics will allow the 16mm film to "back-up" if the reel flanges are to close together, causing the film to "roll-off the reel" instead of around the center hub properly.

So please, learn from my experience and do what I learned to do

EIKI AUTOMATIC 2000ft PLASTIC REEL STORAGE GUIDE

Place Styrofoam or cardboard (you could use just about anything, rolled-up paper even) between the plastic flange's (see photos) and store the reel in warm to hot environment for a week or two. The plastic flanges will "stretch" and "keep the memory" of how far apart you want the flanges to be in proximity to each other.

After you have the flanges right where you want them, i.e. just a bit wider than 16mm film so the film winds around the reel center hub, the film lays snug around the center hub and does not "catch" away from the center hub and eventually "roll-off" the reel instead of around the hub between the flanges.

Always store the reel with the Styrofoam, cardboard, or film in place and your Eiki Automatic 2000ft plastic reel will be ready for its next use.

Enjoy!
