FRISBIE PIE TIN- THE ORIGINALK FRISBEE!-It all began with William Russell Frisbie when he opened a bakery in the 1870's in Bridgeport, Ct. He never dreamed it may be someday promoted to an olympic event. (we never can tell)! The container was used for the pies, after eating the Yale students started sailing them through the air yelling "Frisbie" so the catcher would not get hit, it was the beginning of a whole new era. The contraversy between the cookie and pie tins were the only issue as to which one was responsible for it's beginning. Walter F Morrison gave the then Frisbie a new concept and born was the Wham-o (a more catchy name) came onto the scene. They were then manufactuered out of plastic and ("pardon the pun") took off. These "Flyin' Saucers" hit the market, to make a long story short. They were then manufactured into what we no know as the larger "Frisbee" in the year 1967 and these programs are found in at least 42 different countries and were included in the 2001 games in Japan. The newer "disc golf" may well be on it's way to the olympics. So it is with the history stemming from the "Frisbie Pie Tin" that makes it in itself, such a unique and sought after vintage item.
