EBAY STORES *SECRETS*
This guide is for people who are serious about establishing a selling presence on Ebay and want to be able to create an ebay business.
The number one thing you'll want to setup is an Ebay store. Having a storefront grants you several advantages as a seller....
1. Can list items for a minimum of $.05/item and with a gallery store listing $.06/item!
2. Can add customized pages to your store
3. Customized store headers
4. Adding your store logo and branding
5. Promotional items
6. New features like Sale Items
7. Can list unlimited amounts of items to stock your ebay store
These advantages are essential to setting up a working business on ebay.
You will want to do the following immediately after opening up your store (or as soon as possible)
Create a customized logo - The canned logos available from ebay are ok as a temporary solution, but try to create a logo, or pay to have one created for you.
Create a customized store header - The store header is like your banner advertisement. This area is underutilized by the majority of ebay store owners and settng an attractive header can give you a leg up on the competition. This area can be customized by adding your own HTML, CSS, DHTML java etc to fully make your store a selling portal for potential customers.
Create promotional boxes - Create custom promo boxes, or accept the ebay default ones. The default promos are excellent little banner ads and can be used as is. Or create your own boxes. You can even create your own banner graphic, completely custom and use this as your promo box. This feature is not utilized enough by Ebay sellers and can definitely give you an advantage!
Use the whole page - Another type of promo box is the left hand side, upper or lower promo box. This is another seldom used box ad used by sellers. See my store page to see an example of what you can add to this left hand side. I have setup a promo box based on 'custom graphics'. This custom image can be ANY LENGTH vertically and 170 pixels in width! Again see my store page for more info.
Setup your default settings - Set the default settings for your store to tailor your store to the type of items that you will be selling. Examples are: Gallery or list view. Choose one, list view if you do not sell items with a gallery pic attached, and gallery view if you sell items with the gallery. This default setting will be what your visitors see when they land on your storefront page. Many other settings can be customized to your preference. Use these settings to make your store "stand out" from the rest!
Customize Colors - Choose your color scheme to make people "want to buy"! There are certain color in the psychology of people that tends to make customers click on that "buy-it-now" button more than other colors. Do some research with these colors, and customize your store along these lines, as well as matching it to your logo and header color schemes.
Create a Good About me Page - Along the lines of having a great storefront is having great About Me pages. People like to click on these extra info pages to see any additional info about the sellers. Use this page to redirect them back to your store so they may buy something from YOU! Add other info personalized to you and express your commitments to customer service etc to reassure your potential customers.
Create Other Custom Pages - This area is ALSO not utilized by many sellers! You may create and add custom pages to your storefront. Links to these pages can be added to your stores header, and Ebay adds links to these pages as well. Pages can be: Help & FAQ Pages or How I make my Widgets Page or Guide to Sizings for Clothing, or any number of creative content that will help drive sales from your customers!
