We have been on ebay about 8 years. We have spent thousands of dollars on ebay fees from a record high of over $8,000.00 for one month of ebay fees. We now average less than $2,000.00 and our over all sales are up. We used to list over 3000 items per week and now only list 50 items per week but our sales and profits are also up. Years ago ebay store items DID NOT search via main search page but now they do. Mind you listing in your ebay store is cheap (just a few cents) but selling commission is a whopping 10% , which is way too high, for the POOR customer service ebay provides.
A couple secrets to effective listing and selling is to know when you buyer is on-line. The most effective way to do this is via your website (if you don't have a web site get one now) upload all of your ebay images via your website and than montior your web stats to see when your customers are on line viewing your photos. Where the stats show your most highest traffic, this is the most effective time to to have your auctions end.
The next most profitable thing you can do is drive ebay traffic to your website where there are NO EBAY FEES. Your ME page is the only place ebay allows you to post your website. In your listings drive your customers to your ME page which in turn will drive them to your website sales. Remember you can also keep the website prices cheaper than your ebay listings as you DON'T have to pay EXCESSIVE ebay fees.
