I really wanted a Dyson Animal vacuum. We have pets and even more pet hair. I thought Ebay would be a great place to save some dough and get what I wanted. First purchase was an incredible deal for a Dyson, but was a seller scam and we never got our money back (that seller was cancelled by Ebay), luckily we were protected by credit card. Second purchase on Ebay was an ad that said the vacuum was brand new, but then upon receipt the vacuum had dirt and hair all over it--obviously not new! The seller was gracious enough to give our money back and we returned the vacuum. This is when I called Dyson to ask about warranty. Dyson will not warranty ANY vacuum sold on Ebay! I was surprised to learn this, but essentially a lot of these "new" vacuums are returns from Amazon or other stores, and you're buying a vacuum that someone else didn't want and who knows what happened to the vacuum in the process. If you find yourself in need of the warranty you'll need your store receipt for service. I then found a coupon for 20% off at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I saved $110 on the vacuum with this coupon and didn't have to wait for shipping, I have a warranty and also a store return policy- oh, and finally-peace of mind. I hope some of you shoppers out there find this information helpful, you want to make sure you don't find yourself on the wrong end of a bargain--like I did!!
