The purpose of this guide is to help you choose your SAMPLE CDs & Sounds wisely. I have ordered lots of different Drum Samples from various places and WHERE you get your sounds makes BIG difference. Spending without researching will have you broke AND wack.

Now what you SHOULD be doing is Sampling Drums from Breakbeat,Classic Hip Hop Vinyl etc with some sort of a PreAmp (Maybe even a SSL Board) into your Drum Machine then combining Different Kicks together , Different Snares, Hats, Sounds together until you get your own sound poppin. This is tedious but WORTH it in the long run. But if you just want to get started . . lets do it

The Dr Dre, DJ Premier this and that Drum Cds are guys that did just what I told YOU to do. Truthfully None of them are really good enough to be used alone. But these can save you a lot of time. You just have to LAYER & smash them together to get what you really want.
Same thing with the 10,000 Drums or whatever CD/DVDs. They serve a purpose If you use them correctly

Here are some companies Drums that I have bought before. AND THE TRUTH IS . . . . .
Some of these COMPANIES are the SAME PEOPLE RESELLING THE SAME SOUNDS WITH A DIFFERENT NAME
  • Modernbeats - These were the first guys to bring quality drums to everyday beatmakers. Most of the other companies have copied their style. I hear these sounds in other companies kits
  • MPCsounds - Basically the same As Modernbeats with a different interface
  • AbstractBeats - Average. not much better than the Cheap sounds found up here on ebay
  • MPC-Samples - The best thing about this company are the tutorials. Sounds are Average
  • SoundCrafting - I suspect that this is MPCsounds copying themselves- sounds are kind of the same
  • BanginBeats - The REAL DEAL ! Everyone has stolen from these guys ! Worth EVERY DIME ! This place is the Best Kept Secret of Hip Hop.I Still have their entire AKAI MPC3000 Library. I AINT SELLIN !
  • RapDrums - Another Copycat . but if they're Cheaper , Why Not
  • P5Audio - Hi Quality Sounds . Worth The Money. It sounds like they actually care about what they make
  • GotchaNoddin - Sounds are a little like P5Audio .without the spit & Polish
  • SonicSpecialists - Sounds are clear . But the Cost . Come On !!
  • SampleCraze - Just like MPC-Samples
What Im trying to get to you is to NOT WASTE money with every new Self Proclaimed SAMPLE KING that comes along.
Hope this helps you a little bit

Peace, Diggiti
