Every one is always trying to come up with a better mouse trap, but, when it comes to magic there are only proven originals or poor copies.
Magicians are the only buyers that purchase and effect based on claims and descriptions. In most cases you never actually see the apparatus and there are no returns.
Magic is a cottage industry, that is, even nicely boxed and packaged items are rarely produced in mass quantities but instead are box and packaged in small stores or even homes.
In the case of match pulls, you want dependable and inexpensive and low shipping. Home-made lit match producers can be made with a rubber band, safety pin, and a match striker. Professional match pulls should have ease of use, easily changeable striker mechanisms and a low price. Usually $3-$5 at maximum. It is also a very lightweight item and shipping for 2-3 ounces is as low as $1-$2 even with delivery confirmation. In my opinion, any higher prices are price gouging.
Single match pulls are the standard, double match pulls have a danger factor as you have a spark occuring near a second match head. You also have a match appearing from the same area as the first match, so, even the best of flames should not come from the same area on the magician.
