Dorothy Thorpe was a real Master Carver of Glass. Her work is some of the finest examples of etched glass.
Many people that are selling her work do not know anything about the items and forms they are selling. Some forms are very obvious to the uneducated person.

Here are two examples that are very obvious fig. 1 being a vase and fig. 2 being a cream and sugar set. Besides many individual items that were made by Dorothy Thorpe and her studio she also made sets of glassware, ie; the cream and sugar set. But she also made cocktail glassware and/or drinkware with her beautiful tropical floral and fauna designs etched on them.

The items pictured in fig.3 and fig.4 have been offered on Ebay as vases but in actuality are examples of the many different drinking glassware designs that Dorothy Thorpe sold. Unfortunately what has happened is that these items were separated over the years from their mates or are the only items that survived out of a set. I am not saying that they cannot be used as vases but I like to use something for what it was intended. When I drink from my Dorothy Thorpe drinkware I enjoy knowing that I am drinking from a real piece of Art that was intended for that use.
I hope people find this bit of information useful and hopefully will join me in trying to match up sets of drinkware. I also hope they enjoy them not just to look at but to use them as they were intended.
