If you're trying to run a DK (Dorling-Kindersley) software title and you receive a "sound decompression" or "sound card" related error, you can fix it!
First, this error happens with many DK titles on a Windows XP system, but only if you have Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2 installed. Most of these programs were developed before the Service Packs came out. The Service Packs cause installation and operating issues with DK titles that don't already have this patch installed.
These programs are still compatible with Windows XP - you just need a patch to run the program with Service Pack 2.
We can't give you the address for the patch in this guide (eBay rules), but we can tell you to contact the manufacturer. The address will be on the back on the CD-ROM packaging (usually Global Software Publishing at learnatglobal.com). Navigate to the Technical Support section, and it will usually be the very first link you see!
