I made the big mistake of buying all stainless Frigidaire appliances for our kitchen remodel five years ago. The appliances are falling apart faster than I can keep up, and I've ended up paying more than double for them at this point. My appliance repair technician, whom I've come to know on a first-name basis, tells me that many of the lower-priced manufacturers are selling their appliances at cost, because they make their money on repairs. It's sad that so many appliances are made to end up in landfills these days, and I'm vowing to do a better job researching this time. My Frigidaire dishwasher is heading to a landfill this weekend. I had to replace the motherboard on this dishwasher, the most expensive part to replace, just before my warranty ran out. They replaced the part, but I had to pay over $200 in labor. The 2nd motherboard only lasted 8 months, and now Frigidaire is unwilling to do anything about it, except offer me a 10 percent rebate on a new dishwasher. As if! These appliances are junk. Don't be swayed by the good initial price, because you'll end up paying in the long run. I asked my appliance repairman which brand he'd recommend, and he said for the money, it would be Whirlpool or Kenmore, since many of the Kenmore appliances are made by Whirlpool. The motherboard on my Frigidaire refrigerator has had to be replaced as well already, but the 14 year-old Kenmore one in the garage just keeps on going, with no maintenance. I hope they're still as reliable.
