At the current spot rate of gold at $626/oz. Ebay gold is selling for alot more. Part of it is the simple math that eludes so many. One troy ounce is equal to 31.10348 grams. Thus, if gold is $626/oz., one gram is worth $20.13 and that's before shipping and handling. Likewise, 5 grams would be worth $100.65.

When a buyer pays $20.50/gram of gold, then pays $8.50 to ship it, they have just spent the equivalent of $902.00/ounce. That's almost the spot cost of platinum.

Easy math equation is this:

     $gold/ounce X 1 ounce/31.10348grams = $/grams
