Most people aren't aware of this, but you never have to go to the post office again if you don't want to. You can use PayPal to meet all of your postage needs for FREE! All's you need is a PayPal account, a printer, and the desire to learn. I will show you how to ship for free (does not include postage... you still have to pay for the postage) using this guide (and no, you don't have to sell something on eBay to use PayPal shipping). Includes full color pictures for easy reference!
1. Open your web browser and go to PayPal's website at: www(dot)paypal(dot)com
2. If you already have a PayPal account log-in now by entering your email address and password
3. Once your logged on, you will see your PayPal overview page. Look towards the top left hand part of the screen. You will see a link that says PayPal Multiorder Shipping. Click on that link and it will bring up the next screen as seen in the following picture.
Look where it says (towards the bottom) Create New Orders. Click on that button. In the picture you will see an arrow on it. That's where you will click.
4. Enter in all applicable information in all the sections on the shipping screen. There are 5 sections total. The first section is called Order Details. Click the arrow that's to the left of that link. This is where you can fill in an order number, Item number or name, and quantity. This section is not required. If you are mailing something to a friend or relative, perhaps just use their name for the Order number and use a brief description of the package contents in the item name. Or, you can leave all these fields blank.
5. The next section is required and must be filled in to process a shipping label. Click on the arrow that is to the left of the Shipping Details link. It will bring up the following information (as seen in picture below):
Next to where it says Service Type you will click on the arrow. It will bring up a drop down box with the different shipping methods. This is where you will choose how this package will ship out. Make your selection by clicking on the one you want.
Next, where it says Weight you will enter in the package weight.
If you want shipping insurance you may enter in the amount where it says Insured Value. If there is no insurance on this package then check the box that says No Insurance.
If you want the person recieving the package to sign for it then choose YES next to the Signature Confirmation box. If not, then choose NO. Under that there is a check box that says Hide Postage Cost in Label. If you don't want the cost of the postage to print on the label then click this box.
6. The next section you will need to fill out is the Ship To Address section. Click the arrow to the left to fill out this next section. Fill in each box with the correct information. This information is the name and address of the person or company in which this package will ship to. Make sure all applicable sections are filled in.
7. Click on the arrow to the left of the next section called Ship From Address. Here you will either select the address that the packge is shipping from or enter in the address the package is shipping from.
8. Once all the sections are completed, hit the botton on the bottom of the page that says Save and Close. The next screen as seen in the next picture will come up.
9. Look at the picture above. I placed a white cursor arrow on the box you will need to click on. By clicking on this green box, it will highlight the entire line which is your shipment. Once this shipment is selected you can then click on the little print icon towards the left hand part of the top of the page.
This will bring up a new window with the shipping label on it. Make sure your printer is turned on. You will see two choices: Print Test Label or Print Label. Since you are probably new at this, I recommend first clicking on the Print Test Label. Once it's done printing (and if it printed correctly) then click on the Print Label button to print out the actual shipping label.
Voila! Your done and now the lable can be cut out and taped to the package. If the package is small enough to fit into your mailbox then place it inside and your mail carrier will pick it up for you. If the package cannot fit into your mailbox then use the Free Carrier Pickup option where you printed out your label. This will allow you to specify a FREE CARRIER PICKUP for this package and it will be picked up automatically by your mail carrier to be shipped out.
By using PayPal for all your shipping needs, you will never again have to go to the post office!
