I am writing to warn people about the poor quality of Dirt Devil, I have had not 1, but 3 bad experiences with the company. The 1st time was with the Dirt Devil Swivel Glide upright when they were new on the market, I had bought it at Sears good thing I bought the 2 year extended replacement warranty which is no longer offered. The cleaner worked So-So for 3 or 4 months then it would start to sound like a jet plane taking off and the suction would rapidly decrease and the bearings would start grinding. In 2 years I had the vacuum replaced 5 times with the same model and they all had the same problem On my 6th replacement I was fed up and got a Hoover PowerMax upright. The 2nd experience was with a Dirt Devil Featherlite bagless upright at Target. I bought it because it was lightweight and fairly cheap as a cleaner for in my basement game room and bedroom. It started out okay but would constantly clog and loose suction, the worst problem was when I would use it on the plush sculpted carpet in the bedroom it would over heat and burn the belt off every time, after this happened 4 or 5 times I took it back for a cash refund and went back to my trusty Hoover Convertible, this one didn't even last 3 months. The 3rd experience was with the Dirt Devil Power Reach bagless hand Vac, I got this at Wal-Mart to replace my old Dirt Devil Hand Vac wich I had for over 15 years, this piece of junk blew up the 3rd time I used it. I returned it and went to Sears and bought a Kenmore canister for my cars instead. As you can see that with each new purchase from Dirt Devil the product got worse and lasted a shorter time. I am through with buying new vacuums I will stick with my Hoover Convertible, Hoover Concept Power Max, and my Kenmore canister. So be careful if you are considering a Dirt Devil product or bagless product they are worthless, consider a Hoover or Kenmore from Sears they have been the best built and longest running cleaners I have had.
