Put an item up for sale on EBay and a Canadian bidder was the winner. Never shipped anything to Canada before but it dont seem like it would be extremely difficult. The item up for sale was a necklace and was won for $80.00. The EBay shipping guide program for UPS showed shipping would be apx $13.00. The customer paid quickly and was very kind, so off the package went to the local UPS store. They packaged it up for me and mailed it off for a cool $19.30 ($10.14 was the shipping rate). Well guess what, the package arrived today in Canada 9 days later and the driver hit the consignee (the winner) for $38.12 for excise taxes, brokerage fees and local taxes. WHAT. Why was this extra fees not mentioned to me or the consignee by either EBay or UPS. Sounds like highway extortion robbery (more on UPSs fault then EBays). SO for an $80.00 necklace, I will have to pay $57.42 to send it to Canada, a far cry from the $13.00 Ebay shows, not to mention the auction listing fees, the auction winning fees, the PayPal fees. Hell by the time this will all be over it would of been cheaper and easier to throw the necklace in the trash. They got a necklace and I got what $5.00 maybe. MAN WHAT A SCAM, BUYER AND SELLER BEWARE, DONT SHIP TO ANOTHER COUNTRY. DONT BUY FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY. Gonna try and appeal these charges with EBay and see what happens...ya good luck!!!
