The ruling out of symptoms that are caused by other diseases are most important in diagnosing Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in a person. CFS, since it can only be determined through diagnosis of exclusion, bay be diagnosed based on the following conditions:
Symptoms indicative of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome should be present. Cognitive dysfunction is natural to a person suffering from DFS. Hence, its absence will conclude Chonic Fatigue Syndrome.
The diagnosis can sometimes suggest blood test and other tests of the immune system, which are all non-specific laboratory tests. The objective of these tests is to identify other fatigue causing diseases and to rule them out.
Tests that will be done to exclude other causes of fatigue will be on the liver, adrenal or thyroid glands. People with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome will have normal results on these tests.
Blood testing in another way of looking for an extrememly low Erythrocytse Sedimentation Rate, or ESR, which is the only constant laboratory abnormality in people suffering from Chronic Fatigy syndrome. If the blood test shows a high or normal range of ESR, then chance for that person from Crhonic Fatigue Syndrome will be highly unlikely.
