Haunted Dolls

A haunted item is any type of object that exhibits paranormal phenomena and is believed to be haunted by a spirit or ghost. A haunted doll is one example of a haunted item.

Most people who believe in ghosts accept the fact that a house can be haunted. On a smaller scale, it is possible that an object in the house can also be part of this event.

There are two types of haunted objects:

  1. When an object is kept around strong emotional living energy in one location for a long time, it may absorb this energy and, under the right environmental conditions, discharge this imprinted energy later on in the form of paranormal events such as vibrations, movement, temperature changes, flashes of light or EVPs.
  2. If a spirit of a dead person wanted to make contact with living people, there are many ways to do this. Some of the more common methods are apparitions (ghostly appearances), EVPs (electronic voice phenomena—recordings of spirit voices) and other things that go bump in the night. Often though, a spirit may manipulate the energy field around an object and make the object do something attention-getting. Like imprinted energy, these events can be physical, or some sort of recorded phenomena.

There are no 'Chucky' dolls like you see in a Hollywood movie! Dolls are just inanimate toys. If a haunted doll truly was alive, the amount of energy required to make its plastic or porcelain body move would melt the material first.

However, there are examples of haunted dolls doing things...

It is possible for a jointed doll's head to turn if enough energy was directed at it. This would be possible because the rubber band inside the doll body used to keep the head in one position could flex if a spirit exerted energy towards it, causing the rubber band's elasticity to change (for example, if the ambient temperature around the band got much colder.)

If a doll was placed on a shelf precariously and the slightest vibration or breeze should make it fall, a spirit could cause this doll to topple over. That would certainly catch someone's attention!

And if a doll seemed to change facial expressions when you looked at it (even as far as 'winking' at you) a spirit could easily do this by monkeying around with the light waves that your brain is receiving through your retina. By altering the light and dark parts of a doll's face and causing the brain to interpret movement, a doll could wink or smile or even appear to move its mouth like it's talking to you!

So haunted objects really do exist—and some of them happen to be dolls.
