Disney Pixar and Mattel...The combination has produced a movie and the toys that are generating millions of dollars in the sales of goods manufactured  to bring the movie to life. A hot item is in the form of diecast cars...The cars are from 1:55 to 1:64th in scale and are not only fun to play with...but have become highly collectible. The collectibility has increased since the movie release in part due to the very smart fashion by which the toy & animation giants have created the market for these toys. A combination of exceptional marketing, limited production and an almost constant stream of new cars/characters as well as packaging changes that completely renew interest in collectors hearts to have every style the vehicle is released in.

An example is the at least 5 different packages Filmore/Fillmore has been released in. Fillmore the VW Bus (Hippy) was originally marketed as Filmore with one "L" and then quickly changed to the current "Fillmore" The original packaging has a lighter background card and there was no real indication these would be released in different series. Once the fervor for the cars began to fall off Mattel released the "Supercharged" or as in abbreviated titles in Ebay listings S/C hit the shelves reigniting the flames and stirring collectors to get the new and make sure they have the old. The Supercharged series has a darker colored card and says Supercharged on the packaging. Another changes that coincided with the change in packaging was the addition of new cars...So, on the back of the packaging card are other cars in the series you would want to collect to complete the collection...These seem to continually change. There are other variations as well with Toy retailers like ToysRUs and Walmart striking up deals to be the first or only to carry certain cars diecast. The most recent edition release has lightened up the card once again and is now marketed as "World of cars" series otherwise known in ebay item titles as "WOC" The WOC edition sports a new variation of fillmore also known as series 4 or "Pit Crew" Fillmore is fitted with a funnel and supports the race team.

There are additional new packaging recently introduced into the market in the Mini adventures series where Fillmore is paired with a pink colored Sally

While there are many variations of packaging there are many ways to purchase Disney Diecast Cars...If your intention is for your childs enjoyment and to play with them...I recommend purchasing the cheapest packaging you can find which should be the variation currently available in stores the "World of Cars" The value of previous editions has and should increase over time as fewer are available in the marketplace and those willing to part with their hard found cars ask more to part with them.
