San Antonio, TX, August, 2006- Custom-bike builder CC Trikes, known among hard-core custom-motorcycle enthusiasts for its innovative use of massive horsepower, sleek body lines, and spectacular paint and flame jobs, has selected Apache Billet grips for its customized entry in the Discovery Channel’s Biker Build-Off.

Now in its fifth season, the Discovery Channel’s Biker Build-Off series has transformed custom motorcycles into a pop-culture phenomenon, driving motorcycle sales and style, reshaping the image of chopper motorcycles, and popularizing the names of many custom-bike builders. Debuting in 2002, the shows pit two leading chopper builders against each other in a unique bike-building competition.

The build-off culminated with a 1000 mile test ride that will end in Austin, Texas to kick off the Republic of Texas (ROT) Biker Rally in June of 2006.  ROT participants voted for their favorite trike during the weekend.  The winner will be announced on the Discovery Channel Biker Build-Off airing 16 October 2006.

Apache Billet supplied CC Trikes with a prototype of its three-part billet aluminum and chrome grips that will be used for Harley Davidson Motorcycles and Custom Choppers.

"These grips make the barrels and ends interchangeable," says Apache Billet owner Don Peters, "which makes it easy to change from riding grips to show grips or to changing ends to suit your particular look for the day."

"They also double as a stash for small things like money and keys," remarks Peters, who adds that "the prototype grips will be available for the public in the fall of 2006."

Apache Billet currently sells chrome grips and bar ends for the Suzuki Hayabusa and GSXR models and will have grips and bar ends for Honda CBR by end of August 2006.

All Apache Billet products are manufactured in the U.S.A. According to Peters, the company uses aircraft grade 6061-T6511 aluminum obtained from a U.S. supplier. We then turn and mill the material using our fully automated multi-tasking CNC machines in Woodstock, Ga., and ship them to our Chicago vendor for buffing and a triple chrome plating process, he says.

Watch the Trikes Biker Build-Off on the Discovery Channel on September 11, 2006.
