Well, if you need a camera just for the weekend or during your vacation, you need a digital camera.

Professional photographers use film cameras because they have more control, BUT, there is more invloved  than just point and shoot. There are many types of films. The ISO, Lenses, and Shutter speed are the foundations of a photographer and perfect picture. On the other hand, the newer digital cameras, such as Panasonic, Nikon, and Sony, have great lenses and the camera itself is prigrammed to do what a professional photographer knows.

It takes time a practice to master the film camera settings. Normally it would take a couple years for a amateur to begin masting photograpy.

So, if you want to take pictures of someone's birthday, during the weekend, vaction, etc; Look for a digital camera with a automatic setting and wide range of ISO. Also, look for caneras with stabilizer.
