Recently I was involved in identifying & researching old glass and soon realized that little is known about Louis Comfort Tiffany's earlier years as a glassmaster/designer.
After inquiring at various sources and receiving no information of LCT's pre-1900 years, the common answer received was " There are no records available of Tiffany's pre-LCT Studios days".
Frustration set in, than one evening after dark when cleaning old glassware with a LED headlamp something caught my attention on the counter-top, as my light happened to hit the glass at the proper angle and revealed interesting information about the piece. It happened to be an old L. C. Tiffany water glass, dated 1884. "What an awesome discovery", I thought to myself, however the following weeks and months were met with greater frustrations, for several different reasons, #1, very little information is available for research & #2, "Ah! It is your imagination", was the normal response. You know, maybe they are right, but they haven't convinced me yet.
Before I close I would like to share a recent discovery with you, it's a photo, of what I believe is an old L.C.T. Co, logo/trademark, discovered on the back-side of an old dresser mirror.
Check it out, whether you disagree or support the theory, I will appreciate all comments, positive and negative.
Thank you!
