To the best of my knowledge, the following is the most important elements when you consider to do magic find ("MF") in the games
The Character You Should Use For Magic Finding
- In the new patch, majority of the professional players agrees that hammerdin is the best choice among all because of his high magic damage and defense.
- Blizzard Sorceress and Javazon are only considered to be the second choices in the new patch as they are more easy to die when rushed by a group of undeads and souls and particularly, they always have difficulties to kill cold and lightning immune monsters.
The MF Gear That You Need To Wear
- Majority of magic-find professionals highly recommend that you MUST have the following items no matter what character you are using.
- (1) Helm - Harlequin Shako with either Perfect topaz or ist rune(Click HERE for an example);
- (2) Armor - Enigma Runeword Archon Plate (Link HERE for sample photo and item on sales);
- (3) Shield - based on what character you use (ranging from stormshield to character-specific shields);
- (4) Gloves - based on what character you use (ranging from crafted MF + skilled gloves to faster-casting gloves, like magefists gloves);
- (5) Boots - most of the professionals recommend the game players use character-specific boots to increase damage than to increase MF%;
- (6) Amulets - ranging from high life leech amulets, like Imp Blow Amulet (Click HERE for a good example & photo), 2-skilled and 3-skilled amulets with mf%
- (7) Rings - it is ok to be with or without magic find%, like high life & mana leech plus high resistance ring (Click HERE for a good example), or BK rings with combination of one soj.
- (8) Charms - Annihilus (Click HERE for a good example), Hellfire Torch (Click HERE for a good example) and a Load of small 7% Magic Find Charms with strength or resistance (depends on what character you are using - compensate on the area of where your character is weak at)
- (9) Key Citeria - (1) & (2) is a must and other item selection from (3) to (8) is totally up to your own preference.
The Places Where You do Magic Find (For 1.11 patch only)
- High percentage of people says that CHAOS SANCTUARY is the best place to do MF. People advise that you should do the most of your MF Runs in Chaos Sanctuary as not only diablo drops over 2 to 4 unique items when killed but also the monsters in the place often drops godly items.
- Other majority of people highly recommends that Eldritch in Fridge Highland is an excellent place to do MF because it is easy, convenient and fast and often drops good high level stuff.
- Other places are controversial. Some says high Councils in Travincal and mephisto in Act 3, others say Pindleskins in the temple entrance and baal and baal minons in Act 5.
- However, my view is that all the above is good places to do MF run but really depends on the gear, the skill set and character you use because it depends on what your character is good at and what place(s) contains most of the monsters and/or demons which are immune to cold, lightning, fire, magic and physical damage and your character's strengths and weaknesses.
The Minimum Magic Find % You Need
- Majority of MF professionals recommended that you should have at least 400% but no need to get over 450%.
Other Key Criteria
- Under many circumstances, it is the MF frequency that counts but not the magic find% (reasonably possessing 400% MF) nor the places (just pick some places which you prefer). Therefore, you should remain focused on several good MF places and do the MF runs repeatedly in one or few hours. Don't make yourself too exhausted in game playing, take rest and continue. And don't be upset with results in first few rounds of your MF runs as there is no guarantee of drops (it is all about luck)
Hope you can enjoy the game more and good luck to your magic-finding.
