Diabetic neuropathy is a serious complication of diabetes that affects millions of people. One in every two people with diabetes is affected by it. Nerves affected by diabetic neuropathy can cause stinging or burning sensation, tingling, numbness and weakness in the feet and hands, pain. Everyday activities can become extremely painful. Moreover, diabetic neuropathy can put diabetics at risk for foot injury, infection and even amputation.
Today diabetes affects so many aspects of the life of diabetics. In view of this, no single health care provider can know and do everything to cover you needs. It takes a team of people working in different areas to help you manage your diabetes and its complications.
The pain is very realy although you cannot see it. You can see in the eyes of your loved one or friend the severity of the pain. You can rub the feet, arms, and legs of the person. That helps but not totally does it relieve it. Just be supportive and patient.
