When determining the right tool for the job you need to ask yourself a few simple questions. What is the material you are working with? What kind of time frame are you looking to do the job in? and How often do you plan on using the tool? All of these questions are very helpful.
The recommendation for someone who is looking to rent out the hammer or who has major construction work for large scale buildings, hotels and highway use, would be a 90Lb class hammer. The recommendation for someone who is planning on busting up a 4 to 6 inch thick driveway would most likely need a breaker in the 60 to 80Lb class. 60Lb Class hammers are good for post or pole driving as well. The recommendation for someone who is looking to bust up a 3 X 3 or 4 X 4 foot square of side walk may only need a 35 to 40 Lb Class Hammer. These smaller hammers are also good for working in tight areas and cornered areas.
Note: 90 80 60 40 30 class is only a general tool weight term it does not represent the actual weight of the tool.
Alternatives for pole driving and fence work would be to use a a Rivet Buster with a special bit sold seperatly upon request. upon request. Rivet busters have been proven to outlast and work faster than some breakers, clay diggers, or demo hammers doing the same job.
Clay diggers can also be used as demo hammers by simple changing the bit out. They generally weigh 20 to 35Lbs and can be held horizontally for periods of time determined by your strength.
