The cuurent seal of the Department of the Treasury was revised on January 29 1968. The seal is overprinted on the face of each Federal Reserve note currently being printed by the United States, by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington D.C., and Fort Worth, Texas.
The inscrription in English of the DEPARMENT OF THE TREASURY replaced the previous Latin Legend THESAUR. AMER. SEPTENT. SIGIL., an abbreviation said to represent "Thesauri Americae Septentrionalis Sigillum", Translated as "The Seal of the Treasuty of North America". The seal bears the date 1789, the year of the departments creation.
