I'm sure many people already know about portable satttelite radio
receivers. This is the MyFi by Delphi, and it is a first generation
unit.... I know there are newer units with better features, such as
much longer recording capabilities. This unit will only record up to
five hours, and the newer models have 50 hour recording capabilties.
The main reason I wanted to write this guide was to let the reader know
that I received this unit as a gift for Christmas 2005. I immediately
set it up and I have used it every day since. I have it set up in my
truck, and a home dock in my house. I am never without my MyFi. I use
it all day driving around from jobsite to jobsite, and then I listen to
it in the house when I am home. Virtually continous use since January
1st, 2006 and not a single glitch or problem. Satellite reception is
solid, battery life is sufficient (although I am usually always plugged
into AC, or my vehicle's DC outlet) Every once in a blue moon the unit
will lock up, but I simply remove the battery for a few seconds, and
then re-insert it, start it up and voila!
I intend to buy a new unit eventually.... but only if and when this one dies. Who knows when that will occur. (if ever?)
By the way.... I chose XM purely BECAUSE Howard Stern is on Sirius!
