At first it was thought the problem was isolated to Dell but After an IBM ThinkPad T43 caught fire at Los Angeles International Airport, the company started an investigation that led to the latest recall of Sony leading other companies to do the same.

To ensure that all potentially affected batteries are identified and returned to Dell, the company is requesting that customers recheck their batteries if they have not ordered or received a replacement battery. To determine whether their batteries are affected, customers should go to Dell’s Web site at www.dellbatteryprogram.com.
