I have been using my Dell Latitude D600 for about 18 months. This computer runs 24 hours a day accept when I occasionally use it for travel. I have had one hard drive failure that was covered under warranty (Files not recovered). Otherwise I have been very satisfied with this computer. I was a long time IBM Think Pad user. The Dell Keyboard is different than the IBMs. The "Esc" key and Function keys are located in different positions. The mouse buttons are also much closer to the space bar than the buttons on the IBM. These differences bothered me for a few weeks, but I am now over it. After 18 months, the battery life seems to be at about 80-90 minutes depending on functions being performed. This is not quite enough to get through a DVD which is a bit of a bummer. I did purchase a back up battery that goes in the drive bay (Dell P/N 4X530 A00). With this battery installed, total life is close to 5 hours. This is nice for roaming around wirelessly. The draw back is that battery takes the place of the CD/DVD combo and it also adds a bit of weight.
