If you have dial-up internet, you will need a 56k Modem Card in order to connect to the internet. On the far back left side of your laptop there are 2 slots, known as PCMCIA or CardBus slots. With the laptop off, insert the PCMCIA 56k Modem Card into one of these slots, then turn the computer on. Windows will automatically detect your 56k Modem Card and install the drivers for it. Plug your RJ11 cable (commoly called a phone cord) into the 56k Modem Card. If you have a particular software your Internet Service Provider requires you to use in order to connect to their network, you will need to install the software before you can use the internet. Follow your Internet Service Provider's instructions for connecting to their network.
