Delill handbags were created by a company known as Delill Creations and the trademark name was registered first on Sept 1 1941 by Desire and Lilly Rotkel---- thus the name De from Desire and Lill from Lilly combined to make Delill; in 1949 they were located at 17 Union Square in New York City; in 1955 Delill Creation bags were made "Bags by Lilly" subtitle; The last renewal of the trademark name Delill was made in 1968 and the trademark name is now dead. Those labeled made in West Germany were made after World War II when Germany was divided into East and West Sections. The company appears to have had bags made in Japan and Italy as well as Germany. Some of the "trunk bags" came from Italy. Information learned on Google's Bag Lady Site.
