I have been an avid Matchbox toy collector for quite a number of years now. As a collector I am always craving more information. I have a number of books on Matchbox Toys, however most are out dated having been publish some 20 years ago.
When I first read about "The Definitive Guide to Matchbox Toys 1-75 Series 1953-1969" I knew I had to buy it.
I had some reservations at first, because it is an e-Book (digital download). However, I needn't have worried. The book is brilliant and I am totally enthrilled with my purchase.
The author, John Houghton, has been a collector of Matchbox Toys for over 40 years. This is made obvious by the knowledge and expertise that fills every page. There has never been a book on Matchbox Toys that shows so much detail and lists so many variations.
This book would suit every collector, from the beginner to the experienced. It has a myriad of colour photographs of every model that Matchbox Toys made between 1953-1969. In fact, there are over 1200 colour photographs in this book. I especially like the way many variations are shown using photos with arrows pointing to the variations so you know exactly what you are looking for and also where to look. This is so helpful compared to other books.
The book also lists over 2300 different variations, even including wheel colours! The information is totally mind blowing and I believe every Matchbox Toy collector needs this book.
Although it is an e-book you can print a copy for portable reference. I printed a copy and took it to a stationary store to get it bound. I now have a hard copy of this awesome reference guide.
To find this book, simply do a search on ebay or Google. As a Matchbox Toy collector, I personally recommend this reference guide.
