What is David Yurman Jewelry?

1. David Yurman is the founder of the famous jewelry company that bears his name. His signature jewelry line is comprised of "cable" jewelry, made from twisted, sterling silver ropes.

Established in 1979, the company is internationally recognized as one of America's leading fine jewelers. Yurman, along with his wife Sybil, have sought, in the company's words, "to fuse art, fashion and fine jewelry."

Where To Purchase Yurman Jewelry

David Yurman can be purchased on eBay, or at a fine retailer such as Bloomingdale's, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Neiman Marcus. You will also see his work for sale in the Carribbean Islands, in Nassau, Bahamas, and the Cayman Islands to name a few.

David Yurman stores also exist in Manhasset, New York City, Bal Harbour, Houston, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Dallas.

Price Ranges

David Yurman jewelry can go for as little as $150.00 to as high as $10,000.00 (probably more on his rarer collections)

Advantages/Disadvantages of eBay

When purchasing the item on eBay, you are possibly saving yourself 100’s of dollars on the same item seen in retail stores. However, on the other hand, you may be purchasing a fake (or knock-off version) of the product that you think is real. Fake items are usually made in China and neighboring countries illegally. These products are made to look like the real thing, yet are not made of the same material. The cheap material therefore makes the item extremely cheap to make, and hurts David Yurman by stealing business profits and designs from them.

Advantages of eBay:

Cheaper Price

Quick Delivery

Bundled Sets

Hard To Find Items / Items No Longer Made

Disadvantages of eBay:

Item may be Fake

Item may be missing David Yurman bag

Item may be Damaged / Bad Condition

Slow Delivery / Bad Customer Support

Complete Scammers (You pay, and get Nothing)

Tips For Purchasing on eBay

Check Feedback – make sure that it’s close to 100 percent - if not then actually read the bad feedback

Blocked Feedback – Be Very Suspicious – I usually avoid these Buyers/Sellers

Do Research – Know what you’re buying, and when in doubt, do research on the item. Do not be scared to ask questions about your item. If you need more pictures, don’t be afraid to ask. However, jewelry is hard to get good clear pictures of, so just because the seller can’t provide a good picture should not turn you off on the item.

Check Shipping Prices – make sure Shipping is not too high. A $100.00 necklace is great, but when you have to pay $75.00 to ship it, then you are not getting a bargain, as you might think you are.

Make sure Description is Clear and Understandable! Read what you are getting – not all David Yurman pieces come with the David Yurman bag on eBay. Other items may be missing, so always read.

Make sure you read the Return Policy – Are you safe if you get a bad item?

Note* - Many guides tell you to ask where the seller got a piece, and automatically label a Seller a fake if they do not provide the answer. Many sellers have sources, and do not like to reveal their sources. Why would they want to give up the source of all their items and inventory? Do not be turned off when you do not get an answer. Just like any business model, not everything is supposed to be known. Coca-Cola keeps their formula a secret in order to make sure that no one steals it. Same goes for sources of item on eBay. Once the word gets out, the business is ruined. So therefore, do not be upset when you do not get an answer.

COA’s or Certificate of Authenticity – I have purchased about 5 items at Neiman Marcus, and only 1 piece had a COA that came with it. It looked like the size of a CD case. I would be suspicious if you purchased a piece with a giant COA. I have not seen them, and I am led to believe that they come with Fake items, in order for you to believe that they are real. When in doubt, ask questions!

In Closing:

Common sense is the best way to buy an item safely on eBay. If it looks too good to be true, then it most likely is fake. Always ask questions when in doubt, check everything on the listing, feedback, return policy, the pictures, and just make sure to use good judgment.
