2008 American Idol winner David Cook's Analog Heart CD is selling for hundreds of dollars on eBay. If you are looking for an authentic Analog Heart CD, be sure it is the original CD and not a counterfeit or burned bootleg copy.
Kudos to David Cook for his amazing CD, American Idol Win and Excellent performances.

Analog Heart CD is currently out of print and impossible to locate due to the small CD pressing and limited distribution of David Cook's Independent album.
Given the history of Analog Heart and the demand created when it was pulled from amazon.com, the original copies have been selling for an impressive $200-$835. on ebay. ($500.+ for the past few days.)

**UPDATE: 6/4/08 A sealed, mint copy of Analog Heart sold on ebay for $2,125.35 with a portion of the proceeds donated to a local Relay for Life in Lee's Summitt, Missouri, which benefits the American Cancer Society. The Seller bought the CD directly from David Cook and claimed, "We bought the CD's partly to help David's career, but mostly because this is one of the best albums produced in the past five years, hands down."

The original Analog Heart CD's are now highly sought after by fans and collectors alike.

How can you spot an authentic David Cook Analog Heart CD on eBay?

1. Ask the ebay Seller if the auction is for an authentic Original Analog Heart CD and not a fake, homemade copy.

2. Ask to see actual photos of the auction item, including front and back Analog Heart CD covers with Seller Identification marker (seller ID included in picture) and the CD disc itself.
*****If the seller is using a stock photo or someone else's photo, you have no way of knowing what you are buying. Insist on seeing the actual item photo with seller ID authentication.

3. One of the tracks on the back of the album cover was misspelled. Look at the 6th track, Porcelain. It was not spelled correctly like this, but has a typo in the spelling. (Printer accidentally spelled this incorrectly.)

4. Bid on items that come with the Original CD case only. You can't be sure if the CD is authentic if the case is missing. The inside cover of the original Analog Heart CD package does not contain the Lyrics, only standard Thank You's are listed.

5. Look for a detailed description in the listing. Honest sellers will take the time to give you complete description and quality photos with authenticity.  Ask the seller to guarantee the authenticity of the item they being sold, They will also answer your questions in a timely manner.

6. Check the Seller's feedback and eBay history. Look for red flags or discrepancies.

7. If you purchase an expensive item on eBay, be sure to use a major credit card with insurance protection to complete your Paypal payment. Using a Major credit card with 30 day purchase protection gives you additional assurance in case you have a problem.

***If you fund the eBay purchase using a bank account debit card, you could have some problems if you have to file a Paypal dispute. The payment method will dictate the time Paypal takes to resolve a complaint. (I purchased a watch on ebay last November. When it arrived, it was the wrong color. The seller refused to help me resolve the problem. I was forced to file a complaint with Paypal. I purchased the item using Paypal buyer credit from my ebay sales. It took almost 3 months and many hours of time to resolve. I paid $12. for return postage and hours of time doing research and photo authentication for this case. I learned a big lesson. Next time, I will use a  credit card with 30 day buyer protection for expensive purchases, just in case a problem arises. Your Credit card company will work for you for faster resolution.

According to Wikipedia, Cook released a solo independent album, Analog Heart, in 2006, which he also designed the artwork. The album was chosen as the fourth-best CD released in 2006 by website Music Equals Life. Cook also won the Urban Tulsa Weekly's "Absolute Best of Tulsa" award for "Best Locally Produced, Independent Album" of 2007. He had completed recording his sophomore album before his appearance on American Idol. Over the weekend of April 18 to April 20, 2008, Analog Heart was listed as the number one album for "Today's Top MP3 Albums" on Amazon.com. Soon there after, the album was removed from Amazon. It is currently out of print.

After winning American Idol, David Cook signed a recording contract with 19 Recordings/ RCA records and is due to release his debut album in fall 2008. Currently Cook has an unprecedented Seventeen songs on the Billboard Hot 200 charts. Eleven of those songs are in the Top 100, with four in the Top 40.
