When planning to buy a DVD player, or Blu-ray player, or just a plain CD player, it is of utmost importance to check the region of the item before buying. We tend to buy a item because we find it cheaper here on EBAY than maybe in our own countries. BIG MISTAKE.

Ask the seller what region dvd's or cd's his player can work with if its not described in the auction itself, before buying, otherwise you would sit with a dead duck on your hands, that might not play media sold in your specific country!!

Dvd's and CD's can be region rated as follows:

Region 1 ------------------ USA and Canada

Region 2 -------------------Japan , Europe, South Africa, Middle East

Region 3 ------------------ S Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of S-East Asia

Region 4 ------------------ Australia, New Zealand, Latin America(inc Mexico)

Region 5 -------------------Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa

Region 6 ------------------ China

Region 0 or Region All --- All disks can be played

Also remember : Pal disks must be played in a PAL compatable unit, and NTSC must be played in a NTSC compatible unit 

BLU RAY's work a bit different, here's their region codes:

A-----East Asia(Exept mainland Cina and Mongolia), Southeast Asia, The Americas(USA Canada etc) and their dependencies

B------Africa, Southwest Asia, Europe(exept Russia), Oceania and their dependencies

C-----Central Asia, East Asia(Mainland China and Mongolia only), South Asia, Central Eurasia and their dependancies

Obide by these, and you wont spend your money foolishly, GOOD LUCK!!
