DUNCAN ROYALE
History of Classic Entertainers
also known as
Clowns and Entertainers
This 24-piece limited edition series follows the 1986 publication of the book "History of Classic Clowns and Entertainers" tracing the evolution of clowns and entertainers from early Greco-Roman times through the 20th Century. The book revealed the history and culture of clowns and entertainers featuring their triumphs and unique hardships of each era.
Duncan Royale has brought the pages of the book to three dimensional glory as cold cast porcelain statues fashioned for viewing from any angle or direction with a myriad of brilliant, vibrant colors. The details are outstanding, the facial expressions are life-like and the overall impression is fabulous. Height varies within the two-sized series but averages 12" and 18" within each respectively. The statues were shipped in traditional Duncan Royale fashion in two piece foam packing and inside a multi-colored cardboard carton. The statues have oval identification plates on the bottom with their names and serial number in each series. Each came with a seven-fold color flyer of the entire series as well as other Duncan Royale documentaion.
Several of the pieces reflect the inspiration and influence of notable professional entertainers such as Marcel Marceau.

The pieces are:

Retailers that carried a certain minimum amount of products were offered a 7" tall Signature Piece holding the name of the series, "Classic Entertainers Collection - Limited Edition". Many collectors consider this to be the hardest piece to find and want to add this statue dated 1990 to their set.

All of the pieces come up for sale over time. Unlike Duncan Royale's Santa Claus series, there is no "season" for these and prices are constant over the entire year.
Please drop me a line if you have any questions or comments.
I am not a dealer and I do not sell.
