DUNCAN ROYALE

Calendar Secrets

The CALENDAR SECRETS book

DUNCAN ROYALE is the Fullerton, California based manufacturer of some of the finest, most beautiful resin castings ever created. The "History of Santa Claus" series in three sets is the flagship offering. One of the other lesser-known series is "Calendar Secrets". It has yet to achieve the success of the Santas.

This series is named after the twelve months of the year and each figure is a representation of that month. The base has the name of each month in three languages with the English word facing front. Each piece is vividly colored and has the same attention to detail and quality as found in the Santa series.

They are all approximately 10-12" high and come very well packed in typical Duncan Royale fashion.

Above is the book that DR released detailing the statuettes and a general history of calendars. Pictured on the cover is the MARCH Scotsman.

The pieces are:

January                 This is a statue of the Roman god "Janus" with a dog on his right side.

February               This seated lady wearing elegant clothing portrays "Purity". A cupid attends.

March                   A Scotsman dressed in full battle attire with a shield in his left hand

April                      This is a lovely young lady with a watering pail and a lamb.

May                       A young mother in a petticoated skirt stands with a child hugging her legs.

June                       Juno, the wife of Jupiter seated in calm repose.

July                       This winged Liberty is draped in red, white and blue. Patriotic!!!

August                   An Aztec warrior offers a gift to the heavens.

September            A young woman carries a basket full of food harvest.

October                Our German gentleman in leiderhose stands beside a large barrel.

November            An Indian chief with a full headdress holds a battle spear.

December             An old man sits in a chair with a clock, sand hourglass and sundial nearby.

Meant to be displayed individually, these pieces are very different in period, dress and feeling. If you have a presentation niche in your home or would be willing to change your fireplace mantle decorations every month to match the figure, these might be just the thing for you.

I am not a dealer and I do not sell.
