Warning - Its also easy to break, pop or fry a bulb
and they are expensive £100 - £1000 (average £300) depending on your projector brand and model.
often worth more than the projector.
To get long life out of a bulb
1) Always allow the projector to power down properly running all the fans after bulb has switched
off, i.e. DO NOT JUST PULL THE POWER PLUG.
2) Do not move the projector while bulb is hot, resist moving it even when it's warm.
3) DO NOT KNOCK or JOLT the projector, especially if its ON.
4) Do not try to relight (i.e Power on) a bulb until it has fully cooled down.
5) Avoid unnecessary on/off cycles, the less times you switch it ON and OFF the longer it will last. (i.e.
Rear projection TVs which tend to be on for 8-10 hours a day last longest)
6) Make sure all your filters are clean.
7) Make sure ALL the fans in your projector are running and at full efficiency.
8) Make sure there is adequate ventilation on all sides of the projector.
9) DO NOT TILT the projector, even briefly in any over way except around the axis of the bulb or the
vertical axis. ( If this isn't clear then just use it in a perfectly horizontal position )
10) Avoid Boost modes, the brightness gain is little compared to bulb life loss.
