This guide will cover only the DEUTSCH-NEUGUINEA 1907 clasp which was worn on the Kolonialdenkmünze. The Imperial German Colonial Medal (Kolonialdenkmünze or KDM) was established by Kaiser Wilhelm II on 13 June 1912 with revisions on 17 February 1914. The medal with clasps was awarded retroactively. The DEUTSCH-NEUGUINEA 1907 clasp was awarded for 3 different events:
- June and July 1907: Actions in the Buin District of Bougainville Island, Papua New Guinea. Plantations and residents had been attacked by bandits and the Imperial German Colonial Government decided to punish those responsible. The Police Troops engaged the bandits in June and July with casualties to both sides. Ship crewmembers were not eligible for a clasp for these actions.Troops serving in these actions were not present at Arop, Maloli, Ser, and Karsan.
- July and August 1907: Actions in Arop, Maloli, Ser, and Karsan (northern Papua New Guinea) which were subject to pirate and bandit attacks. The Police Troops engaged the pirates and bandits with casualties to both sides. Troops serving in these actions were not present in the Buin District.
- November and December 1907: Actions in the Orokuza area, presumably against sea raiders and bandits which the Police Troops were trying to punish. Little information is available on these actions but it has been suggested that they occurred near modern-day Port Moresby, New Guinea. Injuries were noted but it remains unclear if they were accidents or due to hostile action.

DEUTSCH-NEUGUINEA 1907 Clasp
This clasp was awarded only to Imperial German Colonial Police Troops. Currently, the number of entitlements to this clasp is unknown but it is believed to be less than 200 total. While the medal is somewhat rare, these bronze DEUTSCH-NEUGUINEA clasps are very rare. As of 1 January 2007, this bronze clasp is only known in one officially issued type: same width as the ribbon, wide lettering, flat back, pebbled background and with soldered sharp flat prong backs. This is not to say that another type wasn't officially issued as well but that only this one type has been verified.
- In 1999, a single clasp was sold in Germany for €169
- In 2002, a single clasp was offered in Germany for €175
- In 2005, a single clasp was offered at a German Antique Show for €350
