Here is a simple way to determine and choose colors to flatter your skin tone.

Cool Skin Tones: Eyes are usually blue or grey. Hair usually Blonde, Brown or Black. Skin has definite blue and pinkish undertones. Look best in silver jewelry. You will look best in colors such as blue, red, pink and purple. Colors that match the deep colors of gem stones. Your veins will appear bluish on the underside of wrist.

Natural or Balanced Skin Tones: Eyes can be any color. Hair can be any color. Skin has unspecified undertones, such as pink, olive or yellow. Those with natural or balanced coloring can wear just about any color and look good. Wear gold or silver jewelry (no preference as to which looks better)

Warm Skin Tones: Eyes are usually Brown, Green or Hazel. Hair usually Black, Brown, Red, Auburn, Blonde or Strawberry Blonde. Your skin has yellow/peach or olive undertones. You look best in Gold Jewelry. Best colors to wear are earth-tone colors, like browns, oranges, yellows, beige, yellow greens, cream, off white, etc. Your veins will appear greenish on the underside of wrist.

Porcelain: You are very fair skinned, and burn very easily. You may be very blonde and have pale eyes, or have very dark hair and a porcelain complexion. (SMM Foundation Suggestions: Bare Fair, Bisque, or Fair)

Light: Your skin is pale, and you burn and then tan. You might be pale in the winter and have a healthy glow in the summer. (SMM Foundation Suggestions:  Light, Bare Light, Bisque, Light Beige)

Medium: Your skin is of average tone, and you usually tan when in the sun. (SMM Foundation Suggestions: Medium Beige, Bare Medium, Medium, Luxe)

                                                              Skin Tones based On Seasons

Decide which season most accurately describes your complexion. People - and skin tones - can be divided into "seasons," depending on their skin tone.

"Winter": complexions have blue or pink undertones. Skin can be pale white, yellowish-olive, or dark. Winter people are generally brunettes, with deeply colored eyes. Many Asians and African Americans fall into this category.

"Summer": complexions, like winter complexions, have blue or pink undertones. Skin is pale and pink. Summers are often natural blondes or brunettes with pale eyes.

"Autumn": Autumn complexions have golden undertones. Many redheads and brunettes with golden brown eyes fall into this category.

"Spring": Spring complexions have golden undertones and are usually creamy white or peach. Spring people generally have straw-colored or strawberry red hair, freckles, rosy cheeks, and blue or green eyes. Tips: It is often difficult to discriminate summer from winter, and autumn from spring. Remember that winters are usually brunettes while summers can be natural blondes. Springs tend to have pale eyes while autumns have dark eyes.

                                                                   Application Tips

Remember these 3 things: SWIRL, TAP, and BUFF! a little goes a very very long way!

CONCEALER/CORRECTOR: Use before foundation application on clean, dry, moisturized skin. Using a small concealer brush such as our flat or oval brush, apply concealer generously and firmly to the areas you wish to conceal. Use YELLOW CORRECTOR to conceal darker areas around your eyes including the inner corners and undereye areas. Use GREEN CORRECTOR to diminish red blemishes and conceal ruddy skintone. Blend well. A creme concealer can easily be made by adding a drop of moisturizer to the powder, then blend the products together into a smooth creamy consistency, and apply.

FOUNDATION: Dip your brush or applicator into your powder, we suggest a kabuki brush. Tap the end of the brush handle to drop powder into brush head. Firmly apply powder on clean, dry skin, evenly blending your minerals. For blemishes, use a concealer or darker shade of foundation, apply directly to blemish and blend edges well. For dry or flaky skin, moisturize as usual, then add a drop of moisturizer to the powder and blend the products together into a smooth creamy consistency, apply. Apply foundation gradually in thin layers until you reach the increased coverage you may desire.

BLUSH: Dip your brush or applicator into your blush powder. Tap the end of the brush handle to drop powder into brush head. Firmly apply powder on clean, dry skin. Apply blush powder to the apples of your cheeks. Please only use a small amount of blush powder and blend well. The pigment is concentrated and colors can be more intense than conventional products that contain fillers.

BRONZER: Follow blush instructions to fill brush and apply, applying bronzer powder to the forehead, cheeks, bridge of nose, and chin for a 'sun-kissed' look.

MINERAL VEIL: Follow foundation instructions to fill brush and apply. This is an all-over translucent mineral face powder that can be worn alone or as a finishing powder over your makeup application. Apply liberally.

GLOW: Follow foundation instructions to fill brush and apply. This is an all-over face shimmering mineral face powder to apply to areas of your face that will normally 'glow' when you are flushed. It can be worn alone, over foundation or over our finishing powder.

EYESHADOW: Dip the tip of your brush or applicator into the powder. Tap brush over the side of jar so the excess powder falls back into the jar. Brush firmly on lids, crease, or brow, blending well for a natural look.

EYELINER: Eyeliner can be applied dry or wet. For DRY APPLICATION, dip the tip of your eyeliner brush or applicator into the powder. Tap brush over the side of jar so the excess powder falls back into the jar. Brush firmly on lid getting as close to the lash line as possible, following the natural curvature of the eye. Color can be layered to build the line for added depth and drama. For WET APPLICATION, mix a drop of water to the powder either on the back of your hand or in jar lid and follow above instructions. Always keep 'wet' and 'dry' eyeliner powders separate, as the consistency of the powder is altered after the addition of water.

LIP COLOR: It is recommended to have lined lips with a complimentary or skin tone shade of lip liner. Using a lip brush, apply a thin coating of lip color to clean, dry, lips. Can also be worn over your favorite lipstick for added depth, shine and texture.
