It’s summer and of course the fleas, ticks, ants, flies, gnats and all those nasty little pests are out in full force to make their home on your dog., not to mention to use them as a vehicle to get inside your house.

Frontline, Advantix other Chemical Flea Repellants? NOT for my dogs!

We have 3 Labrador Retrievers that I train for competition hunt tests. Needless to say we are out in the neighborhoods of these pests every day. As a natural health advocate that extends to our dogs, I take exception to using the chemical pesticides for fleas and ticks. The chemicals are readily absorbed into the skin , which eventually poison your pet and over time might cause some deadly and long term health problems, not to mention that the residue eventually rubs off into your carpets and furniture and even onto you! If you have more than one animal, they love to lick things off the coat of the others. - another great way to poison them.

I have always used natural bug repellants on our dogs and all have proven to be effective and safe but for the second year now I am dedicated to using Bite Blocker. This product is free of DEET and has all natural ingredients, which will not harm the dogs if they lick it off the other‘s fur.. I have repeatedly noticed that when I use this product, the dogs are not bothered by flies or gnats when they are in the field, not to mention that it is extremely effective against fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes . It is supposed to last for up to 4 hours but I have seen it last longer than that when the weather is just right.

It comes in a 16 oz spray bottle which lasts me a little over a month using it on 3 dogs, twice a day.

FYI - Last year the FDA approved the essential oil Lemon Eucalyptus as an effective mosquito repellant for humans. You can make a repellant by adding 1- to 15 drops of the Lemon Eucalyptus to 16 oz of water in a spray bottle. Shake well and us the spray as a natural mosquito repellent. A stronger formula can be made by increasing the amount of essential oil. I also used this last year and it works!
