D'Brickashaw Ferguson - NFL Welcomes Da Brik
D'brickashaw Ferguson is one of the top 2003 NFL tackle draftees. He is a stout young man, to be sure, weighing over 304 pounds and standing more than 6'6" inches tall. Ferguson grew up in Freeport, New York and played for the University of Virginia Cavaliers during college. Unlike many other NCAA college football athletes who focused on sport to the exclusion of athletics or extracurriculars, Da Brik managed to complete a successful degree in religious studies and develop his karate skills. He is a third degree black belt.
The New York Jets selected D'Brickashaw in round one of the 2006 draft (he was the number four pick overall), and many sports analysts believe he has the capability to become one of the most spectacular, statistically impressive OTs in a long while. Many attribute his unique skills to his incredible wingspan (distance between middle finger tip on right hand to middle finger tip on left hand when arms are stretched out) of 2.21 meters.
Unlike other offensive tackles, who utilize brute upper body strength to break through and pummel opposing players, D'Brickashaw leverages his finesse, flexibility, and lower body stamina to take out his opponents. He worked as a youth minister while attending the University of Virginia, and he retains strong ties to his family.
Da Brik won numerous awards while playing for the Cavaliers. The AP named him to their All-America first team, and the Atlantic Coast Conference selected him twice for their first team. It seems he has a bright future waiting for him in the NFL
