Czeslaw Slania was a stamp engraver that lived from 1921 to 2005. He moved to Sweden in 1956 and there he became the royal engraver. He worked on many Swedish stamps up until his death. He was the most protific engraver ever having worked on over 1000 issues. His work is exquisite. The engraved lines are uniform even under a lens.
Slania engraved stamps for many countries and also engraved bank notes. His 1000th postage stamp was for Sweden in the year 2000. It is a detail of “Great Deeds by Swedish Kings,” by David Ehrenstrall. It is a large souvenir sheet and is highly popular. It is called Scott 2374 by American stamp collectors.
