This guide is a simple reminder to most, but can be a productivity boon to those who are not familiar with the easiest way to use these important commands.  So, if you don't know these shortcuts already we suggest you try to memorize the following keys as soon as you reasonably can.  They are:

MOST USEFUL

1. Make a selection with the mouse and then:

  •  Press and hold [Ctrl] then press [X] for cut (e.g. let the 'X' remind you of a scissors)
  •  Press and hold [Ctrl] then press [C} for copy (e.g. let the 'C' remind you of the 'C' in copy)
  •  Press and hold [Ctrl] then press [V] for paste (e.g. only because it's close to 'X' and 'C')

ALSO AVAILABLE

2. Make a selection with the mouse and then:

Hover the mouse on the selection and right click, then use the left mouse button to select:  Cut,  Copy, or  Paste

3. Make a selection with the mouse and then:
Select 'Edit' & 'Cut' from the Edit menu in most application screens.
or, press and hold the shortcut key [Alt], press [E] for edit, then release and press [T] to cut.

Select 'Edit' & 'Copy' from the Edit menu in most application screens.
or, press and hold the shortcut key [Alt], press [E] for edit, then release and press [C] to copy.

Select 'Edit' & 'Paste' from the Edit menu in most application screens.
or, press and hold the shortcut key [Alt], press [E] for edit, then release and press [P] to paste.

HINT:   One of the most useful and important reasons to learn the above shortcuts [Ctrl] & [X], [Ctrl] & [C] and [Ctrl] & [V] is that you can use them most anywhere inside Windows.  So even if menu commands are not available, (e.g. As in a [Save As] dialog box) you can cut, copy or paste into the 'File Name' line or into any other dialog box entry .  The mouse-initiated right click commands (as described in #2 above) will also work in dialog boxes.
