Want to decorate your home in your choice of fabric?
Then you must be looking for a custom quote.
There are several seamstresses out there, be selective and know what you want not only for yourself, but from your seamstress as well.
Check out their service. If sewing is their thing you'll know from what they sell, from what "has" sold and from their customer feedback.
Have photos or sketches, accurate measurements and if available get their fabric samples. We offer samples to our customers (now by request for $4.00) It's always good to have the fabric in hand for matching colors and textures. If they don't offer samples, how can you be sure?
Also be prepared to pay a little more for custom work. It's not the cookie cutter item you want, it will cost you more.
First of all do not "be" or "deal" with a poor communicator. If you can't communicate easily you probably won't get what you want.
We aren't smokers and that is something a non-smoker forgets to ask, is it from a smoke free environment? Ask about pets as well if you have allergies.
Be ready to answer questions. A good seamstress will ask plenty of questions and have a good list of them for you to answer. A phone number is a good thing, if they offer it, call it! Speaking with a real person can be beneficial to the product outcome and it certainly makes you feel better about your purchase.
Don't pay for anything until you are sure that you and your seamstress have the same idea in mind. Be clear on this.
Always verify your measurement and be clear on the design and the cost before you agree and pay and more importantly before your seamstress begins.
Most custom work is not refundable but a good seamstress will correct any errors or misunderstandings. You don't want this to happen so communicate well!
