Hello, my Name is Jamie Hoenshel, am a designer of children's boutique custom clothing, a web developer, an aspiring photographer, and the mommy of a boutique model. I believe the following to be a great for facilitating Modeling and enhancing your experience as well as your clients.
Provide your client /designer with the following to facilitate the communication process:
- Contact info, email, your name & your child’s name
- Offer a list of available setting or backdrops
- List of Poses for the client to select from
- Questionnaire with preference in hair style, accessories
- Ask the client if they will provide accessories, let them know if you can.
- Submit your childs measurements to each client for each new shoot
- Let the client know your terms
Communication
Communicate to the designer your whether you offer your services for free or request payment for services rendered. Be sure you have your terms written out clearly for any designer who might contact you. Establish project timelines for example: when you should expect the item to be modeled, turn around time for photos and shipping options.
Customer Service
- Answer emails within a 24 hour period.
- Always provide your client with measurements regarding the item being modeled.
- Acknowledge receipt of emails.
- Let your client know when you have received the item needing to be modeled.
- Let your client know when you will be modeling the set and when they should expect photos.
- Make sure to make your deadlines. That is crucial. If for some reason you cannot make a deadline be sure and give as much notice to your client as possible.
Terms
Whether you offer your services for free or get paid, make sure you have your terms clearly and specified in writing. Terms should include the following:
- Turn around time
- Adverting and whether you will be sharing model on boards
- Photo editing options available
- Shipping terms to and from client/buyer
- Minor model release form
- Photographers release form
- Whether or not the photos can be used on eBay, website, advertising and how long the photos can be used.
- Any associated modeling costs should be spelled out.
- Backdrop & Locations
- What locations or backdrops are available to the model.
- If you would like a gift, be specific and let your client know what you would like as a gifts.
Photographs
Although you will take a lot of photos you only want to provide your client the best. Make sure to include: Front, back, and close-up of any details or hard to see parts of the item being modeled. Be sure the photos are clear and make sure that there is nothing distracting from the subject of the photo. Also if you are modeling clothing make sure there are no wrinkles in the clothing.
How do I accessorize the model?
Discuss with your client whether or not you will need to provide accessories, or if they will provide you with accessories. If you don't have accessories such as: shoes, tights, and hair accessories to match. Then you should purchase necessary accessories. Try purchasing items that can be potentially used for various modeling shoots. Accessories complete the outfit so every attempt should be made to enhance the photo shoot.
Market Your Child
Periodically every 6 months or send a business card or postcard with your child's head shot on the cover with size and contact info just as if you were marketing yourself. This means you will need to keep a record of design's addresses.
Additional Exposure
Join modeling and buyer/designer yahoo and eBay groups and post your child’s photo in the modeling directory and don’t forget to share your child’s photo and mention the designers name, etc.
